What is a Load Switch?

abstract: What is a Load Switch?

Full Text:

A load switch is an electronic component that works like a relay, but that has no moving parts. Generally, two MOSFET transistors act like a switching element. One of the transistors is an N-channel device, whereas the other transistor is a P-channel device.

Types of Load Switches

There are many different kinds of load switches and at Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by Polarity, Maximum Voltage, Maximum On-state Resistance, Maximum Rated Current, Packaging type and Number of Elements. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.

The most common sizes for Maximum Rated Current are 1.25 A, 1.5 A and 2 A. We also carry load switches with Maximum Rated Current as high as 75 A. Maximum On-state Resistance can be between 7 mΩ and 7 Ω, with the most common load switches having a Maximum On-state Resistance of 140 mΩ or 160 mΩ.

Choosing the Right Load Switch:

When you are looking for the right load switches, with the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, you can filter the results by various attributes: by Polarity (General, High Side, Low Side,…), Maximum Rated Current (10 µA, 1.25 A, 1.5 A, 2 A,…) and Maximum Rated Current (from 7 mΩ to 7 Ω) to name a few. You will be able to find the right load management switch or MosFet load switch for your circuit.

Load Switches in Production Ready Packaging or R&D Quantities

If the quantity of load switches required is less than a full reel, we offer customers many of our products in tube quantities that will avoid unneeded surplus.

In addition, Future Electronics offers clients a unique bonded inventory program that is designed to eliminate potential problems that may arise from an unpredictable supply of products containing raw metals and products with erratic or long lead times. Talk with your nearest Future Electronics branch and find out more on how you and your company can avoid possible shortages.
